La Fuente de Pavía is an old farmhouse in Caballar (Segovia). Restored in 2011 preserving its rustic charm and using materials such as stone, wood, terracotta tiles hand made and painted in craft workshops.

Moreover, our deep respect and commitment to the planet have led us to use geothermal energy as a means to get hot water and underfloor heating throughout the house, in order to achieve a sustainable balance with the environment.

La Fuente de Pavía invites guests to enjoy peace, tranquility and serenity.
Self-catering and detached. It sleeps 6, and has:

2 en suite double bedrooms on the top floor and 1 master bedroom on the ground floor. Each room features linen blankets and towels (one hand towel and one bath towel per person).

3 bathrooms, 2 with bath (on the top floor) and one with shower (downstairs). Toilet paper, mat and hairdryer.

The kitchen fully equippe with dishwasher, washing machine, electric oven, microwave, refrigerator, small appliances (toaster, juicer, blender), crockery, glassware, cutlery and kitchenware. As well as tea towels, paper napkins, paper towels, dishwasher tablets, washing detergent and softener, garbage bags, mops, dusters and cloth.

Playground has a collection of board games and books.

Living room has flat screen TV and USB, DVD (USB port) and fireplace, WI-FI (Free).

Other interesting details.

Heating and hot water, is produced by geothermal energy, which is the latest innovation in renewable energy.

Firewood, no additional cost. Also firelighters.

The patio has a porch equipped with a table and chairs, ideal for BBQs. Charcoal not provided.


I own 3 other detached holiday cottages, two of them are in Caballar - Fuente del Monte (sleeping 4) and La Fuente de Poval (sleeping 8). The third holiday cottage is in Cubillo, and is called La Fuente (sleeping 10).

Caballar is a village in Segovia with around 105 inhabitants.

The most important building is the church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, 13th century Romanesque work. Inside you can admire the altarpiece, baroque work by Eugenio de la Cruz in 1683. A side chapel is dedicated to three saints: San Frutos (Segovia patron saint), Santa Engracia and San Valentín, there is a 18th century shrine that keeps Santa Engracia and San Valentín skulls, who were beheaded by Muslims and their heads thrown into the Fuente Santa. Still, their bodies were buried in San Frutos Duratón priory (Sepulveda). Near the town, Fuente Santa is sheltered by a 18th-century quadrangular pavilion and the Fuente Redonda, simpler and formed by a small wall of masonry. In September a pilgrimage to the Fuente Santa is celebrated, but the most important holidays are celebrated on October 25 - San Frutos Day.

Nearby attractions include:

• Turégano - 10 km, with its castle, village symbol of Celtiberian origins. It was declared a Historic-Artistic Monument in 1931.

• Pedraza - 18 km. Monumental Landmark declared in 1951 and given "C" Awards by Castile and Leon Tourism Board in 1993 and Europa Nostra Award in 1996. You will find here a great place to stroll, shop, enjoy exquisite cuisine in a privileged quiet historic place.

• Navafría - 24 km, is located at the foothills of northern side of the Sierra de Guadarrama. It is a typical mountain village with old stone houses. It is surrounded by ash, oak and broad meadows where cattle grazes. In 1979 RECREATION PARK "EL CHORRO" was opened. It is 2 km far from Navafría, and it was originally designed as a recreation and leisure area in the heart of the pine forest.

• Segovia - 30 km, in 1985 the old city of Segovia and its Aqueduct were declared World Heritage Site by Unesco. Within the old quarter there stand a wealth of historic buildings, both civil and religious - Catholic and Jew alike, such as the district populated by this minority, which commemorates the different cultures living together in the city.

• The Enebralejos Cave is located in the Prádena Karst, and is an interesting example of stalactites and stalagmites formation, leading to a spectacular array of colors. It is structured in three levels:
high, medium and low galleries. It stresses the Hall of Burials, leading to the shrine including abundant prehistoric paintings and engravings, and lots of formations, the waterfall and the white wall formed by lava stalagmites, and the Phantom. The Roof of the Needles is formed by a high concentration of "macaroni".

• The Royal Place of La Granja is located on the northern slope of the Sierra de Guadarrama. Its name comes from an old farm monastery Jeromes monks from El Parral owned here. Felipe V retired to this place in 1724 and during the next twenty years magnified the gardens and the palace, which was used as a summer residence by all his successors until Alfonso XIII. The gardens are one of the best examples of eighteenth century gardens still preserved, and were designed by the French architect René Carlier. They are formed with flowerbeds and vegetation groves delimited by hornbeam walls, and alignments of trees - especially lime and Buckeyes.
18th century white marble statues and vases decorate the garden parterres and avenues. They feature Neptune, Apollo and Andromeda in the broad perspective of Horse Racing; Anfítride Waterfall.

• Sepulveda - 37 km. The Hoces del Río Duratón Natural Park is partly within its boundary and its Interpretation Centre is located in the Iglesia de Santiago in Sepulveda.

• The Hoces del Río Duratón Natural Park is located in the northeast of Segovia, downstream from Sepúlveda. In this area, the river has been embedded in a deep canyon, in some places reaches over 100 meters. Interest and scenic beauty add to the archaeological and historical richness enclosed in this gorge. Nearly 500 pairs of vultures usually nest in these high rocky cliffs, together with a number of Egyptian vultures, golden eagles and peregrine falcons.

El Camino de San Frutos is a new route, opened on October 20, 2012 that runs through the province of Segovia, from the same city to the Hermitage located in Hoces del Duratón. No less than 77 km where hikers can enjoy routes through an area of ​​great natural, historical and monumental interest. Not forgetting the local cuisine and the spiritual component of pilgrimage. A real viewpoint of art and nature dedicated to delight all the senses.
Spirituality, pilgrimage, nature, historical and archaeological heritage, landscape and cuisine are some attractions of this route in the footsteps of San Frutos - from unknown quiet places, walking at the foot of the mountains or on horseback, and through popular sites, such as its natural and historical heritage of art and devotion for San Frutos. Through rural paths, the route runs through 17 municipalities, starting from Segovia and Zamarramala, leaving behind a beautiful view of the city. The route includes beautiful monumental stages such as the medieval village of Pedraza, including a raptors interpretation centre, or Castilnovo Castle, finishing in the natural park of Duratón.
Much of the route runs through the protected areas of Sierra de Guadarrama and Hoces del Duraton Natural Parks, where you can see wildlife such as the red kite, the imperial eagle, the red squirrel, black and griffon vulture, the great tit or native "chova piquiroja".

- On the check-in date, keys will be given to customers at the specified time, respecting the departure from previous clients if busy.

- On departure day guests must do the check-out at 5 p.m (latest).

• In case of cancellation, the following percentage of the deposit will be retained as compensation:

1) 100% when cancelled within fewer than 7 days.
