Environment & Activities Casa de Lucio

Torre del Burgo is a village in the province of Guadalajara, located at the GU-1003-CM-183 cross roads, 20 km from Guadalajara capital, 75 km from Madrid and 15 km (on a fast well paved road) from the R2 motorway.

In the middle of the Baidel River Valley, just at the point where it becomes wider to flow into the Henares River. Sopetrán Monastery was built here 960 years ago.

The village is located 300 m from the Monastery and was the place where secular workers used to live. Still, despite their good communications and short distances from major urban centres, all the towns the Badiel River passes through are absolutely still and silent.

The region's economy is based on farming, but for the last 30 years growing green asparagus has become widespread, which has increasingly transformed the economy of the valley, and particularly this village. Despite its small size, it is the production centre in the area northeast of Madrid.
