Casa da Maquía is a stone house built in 1956. It housed several sweatshop mills, hence its name. In 2010 it was restored by combining traditional materials on the ground floor with other more recent on the top floor.

Downstairs it features:

The house is located in A Estación, a small village in Concello de Ordes. Ordes is on the N-550 between Santiago and Coruña and 4.3 km from the house. This prime location, in the center of the province of A Coruña, 18 km from Santiago Airport, and 8 km from highway, allows to reach cities and beaches in an hour, and anywhere in Galicia in less than two hours.

• Beaches - Less than 30 km away are Minho, Sada and Gandarío beaches, located on the northern coast of Coruña, which can be reached by motorway in less than half an hour. Within 50 km are Razo, Baldaio, Malpica, Barizo, Balarés and other small beaches open to the Atlantic Ocean.
• Santiago de Compostela - Must-see, 23 km from the house.
• A Coruña - Torre de Hércules, scientific museums (Casa das Ciencias, Casa do Home, Casa dos Peixes), Promenade, Trolebus, Parks, Shopping Areas,... 40 km.
• Costa da Morte and Rias Altas - Corme, Laxe, Finisterre, Carnota... and Muros and Noya estuaries with villages of legend, all within 100 km.
• Rías Baixas - Wine tours, "furanchos", and the charming fishing villages that take you back to past centuries, like Cambados, Pontevedra and especially the ancestral Combarro.
• North Route - Betanzos, Pontedeume, Fragas do Eume-Caaveiro Monastery, Ferrol, Cedeira, Ortigueira, Barqueiro, Viveiro...
• Inland - On the same route you can visit the Cistercian monastery of Sobrado dos Monxes and the city of Lugo and its wall, declared a world heritage site. You can continue up to the mountains of Los Ancares and visit the charming villages of Piornedo, Suarbol, Baluota...
• Last, but not least, tourist and gastronomic itineraries tailored to your availability, time and resources.


• Relax, Walks and Fishing - 150 meters from the house is the old Ordenes-Pontraga station. The station concourse has become an ideal place for walks along the river, a relaxing recreation area, picnic area, etc. Nex to this area flows the river Lengüelle, ideal for trout fishing and canoeing.

• Fishing - Less than 10 km away, Villagudin fishing preserve, open all year around.

• Hiking and mushrooming - Less than 200 m from the house, you can find hiking, biking routes, or go mushrooming hunting.

• Karting and pools - 5 km from the house, in Ordes, you can enjoy a go-kart track. Also there are two pools: an indoor pool open from 8 am to 11 pm throughout the year, and an outdoor pool open in summer.

• Aquapark - 18 km away. Cerceda (unique in Galicia) where you can enjoy giant slides, wave pool, geyser... Open from early June to mid-September.

• Museo do Traxe - Features over 750 costumes from around the world, listed as vintage, ceremonial, costumes for movies, etc.

• Gastronomy - Just 100 m away from the house, there is a coffee bar where you have breakfast, snacks, appetizers, tapas, etc. and within 5 km there are several steak restaurants, pulpeiras, marisquerias to enjoy the best Galician cuisine.
