A Ribeira do Tambre is a typical Galician farmhouse recently renovated with all comforts of modern life, but without losing its traditional air infused by its architecture and decoration.
Its privileged location close to the city of Santiago de Compostela and not far from the sea, and the beauty of its natural surroundings make it an ideal place for relaxation and outdoor activities.
Following our philosophy of combining traditional local atmosphere with moder comforts, A Ribeira do Tambre features the best of both worlds. Based on traditional materials (mainly stone and wood), the farmhouse looks like a cozy carefully decorated space.
We offer travellers 6 en suite double bedrooms (1 with whirlpool tub and the others with shower), 1 double bedroom with 2 single beds and jacuzzi, and 1 single bedroom with shower.
The communal areas include a library and a spacious living room.
Homemade breakfast based on typical local products included.
On the 120,000m2 country estate, children can enjoy nature safely in the designated areas, and you can sunbathe or enjoy a coffee or a drink in the garden, walk to the river and see the beautiful scenery of the area.
Environment & Activities A Ribeira do Tambre
The house is located in an area bordered by the Tambre River, next to Tapia river beach and the village of Ponte Maceira, a magnificent collection of historical monuments including a great medieval bridge built in the thirteenth century on the foundations of an old Roman bridge.
Not far from there, you can discover Torres de Altamira, Count of Altamira's residence and one of the most unique Galician noble houses. He had a huge power within the structure of the Cathedral of Santiago during the Middle Ages. Today, of the old castle built on a hill fort there only ruins left, but you can enjoy a magnificent view over the valley from there.
Amaia area is also known for its medicinal waters, already known by the Romans too. In the nineteenth century they attracted to members of the bourgeoisie in the Santiago area, building magnificent houses.
Being located in a totally natural setting, visitors can enjoy beautiful landscapes by walking along the roads, and deep into the surrounding hills.
