A Casa Do Eiro is pet friendly (ask the owner).

A Casa Do Eiro is a house from 1757 located at Calvos of Randín - a rural town of 105 inhabitants, located 900ms. above sea level, and the head of a municipality of the same name and 1900 inhabitants. This town includes other 17 villages (Castelaus, Serois, Lobás, Golpellás, Vila, Silvoso, Pintás, Padroso, Lomear, Ríoseco, Feás, Randín, Vilar, Vilariño, Rubiás and Rubiás Santiago).

The house was built at a crossroads where the village was founded. In front of the main facade, just chairing the aforementioned crossroads, there is a stone cross built in 1769, at the foot of which the plentiful and excellent local water feeds a public fountain.

There are seven spacious bedrooms with bathroom, TV and an extra bed, one of which is adapted to accommodate disabled. They are accessed from a central courtyard on the ground floor or from a corridor on the top floor. Two of them are located in a separte wing, and acccessed from this corridor and through a terrace. They also have communal skylight, lounge, kitchen and separate entrance.

From the central courtyard, you can access the 80m2 living and dining room with fireplace and 25m2 kitchen. You have the rest of the house for private use, 2 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms, living room, kitchen, veranda and terrace from which you access the garden. Of course, all with heating and equipment.

Environment & Activities A Casa Do Eiro

Location:

Located in Calvos de Randín, amid the valley of the Salas River, on the Portuguese border, in the south of the province of Ourense, whose capital is 68kms away. Though in Galicia at 900 meters above sea level, the horizon in Calvos de Randín is really close, so you can easily view a gentle circus of nearby mountains that lets you guess the work done by the erosion of the Salas River, clearly delineating its valley, which passes through Santiago de Rubias and joins Couto Mito, where history is centuries ahead.

A few miles below you can see the settlement of a 3500-2500 B.C. necropolis in good condition. This is right the point where the valley of the Salas River becomes a part of a natural enclave of high ecological value - the Natural Park of Baixa Limia - Serra do Geres Xurés, included in the Natural Areas Network shared by Spain and Portugal. Declared Nature Reserve, it features an overflowing variegated landscape full of secret corners and legends where delicacy gently glides as Fontefría peaks do towards the Maus Reservoir (see map).

In this area in Portugal, through Pitões and across the bridge over Salas, there is a gateway to the National Park. The mountains get covered with snow in winter, and in spring with colours such as yellow, white, lilac, blue, purple, pink... of "Xestas" and "carqueixas" "Toxos" "urceiras"... forming a unique mosaic of colours. The scenic beauty of the surroundings is complete when you get to the top of the Northeastern mountains to contemplate the valley called Río del Olvido, which belongs to the famous Limia, also known as Lethes in the old Roman times.
